Under the Srinivasa Ramanujan Student Digital Scheme, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur launched a laptop distribution scheme worth Rs 83 crore on Wednesday to distribute free laptops to nearly 20,000 meritorious students across the state.

He praised the meritorious students who received laptops on the occasion while speaking to teachers, students, parents, and other dignitaries at a function held at Paddal Ground in Mandi.

He stated that the most valuable asset for any democratic society is an educated populace, and that students are known for their willingness to fight for all good causes since their thoughts are pure and honest.

Thakur believes that the students' success would inspire more students to achieve academic success and win a laptop in the future.

"Himachal Pradesh has made exceptional development in the sphere of education, surpassing Kerala in numerous educational parameters, which was an honour for all of us," he remarked.

He noted that providing quality education to students was a foremost aim for the state administration, with a special focus on the education of female students.

People used to look down on girls' education, but times have changed, and girls are now outperforming boys in school, he said, adding that this has ensured women's empowerment.

As per the Chief Minister, students are the nation's future, hence it is critical to focus on their education.

He went on to say that the laptops provided by the state government to students will go a long way in assisting them in their academics.

"Technological advancements have resulted in a significant shift in the educational system. As a result, modern technology such as laptops, computers, and mobile phones have become indispensable study tools," he explained.

The delivery of these laptops was delayed due to the corona pandemic, but the state government has now handed these laptops to the students, according to the Chief Minister.

On this occasion, laptops were distributed to 2900 deserving kids from the Mandi district.

The state government, according to the Chief Minister, has opened a new State University in Mandi to help students from adjacent regions access higher education closer to their homes.

He stated that this university will begin operating at full capacity as soon as possible, and that UGC scales would be issued to university and college instructors as soon as possible.

The Chief Minister also spoke with deserving children from several districts, encouraging them to work hard because there is no shortcut to success.
