Former Bihar Agriculture Minister, Narendra Singh Passes Away: Here are 5 Unknown Facts About Him

Former Bihar's Agriculture Minister passed away on Monday at the age of 75. After serving as Ram Vilas Paswan's number two in the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) until 2005, Narendra Singh switched sides and served as Nitish Kumar's agricultural minister till 2014.

Narendra Singh, former agriculture minister of Bihar and one of the prominent political personalities to emerge from the state's "JP movement" in the 1970s, died on Monday in Patna after a long illness. He was 75 years old.

According to Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar and leader of the Janata Dal, Narendra Singh will be cremated with full state honors (United). 

Narendra Singh was a lifelong acquaintance of Nitish Kumar and was considered a fiery young leader during the JP movement.

5 Unknown Facts About Narendra Singh 

1) Narendra Singh was one of the few politicians in Bihar who had worked with all three of the state's political heavyweights: Nitish Kumar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, and the late Ram Vilas Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

2) Narendra Singh was the most well-known upper-caste Rajput politician in the Jamui and Banka region after the late Digvijay Singh, a former Union minister. He was an outspoken socialist.

3) Narendra Singh, the son of a major socialist politician and former minister Shrikrishna Singh, was a contemporary of former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur.

4) Narendra Singh has been a close friend of Lalu Prasad from the "JP movement" era. He began his political career as an MLA from Chakai in Jamui in the 1980s, serving the district several times.

5) Narendra Singh has been credited with assisting the Nitish Kumar-led NDA administration in developing the state's agriculture road map. However, he supported Jitan Ram Manjhi when the former chief minister quit the JDU in 2015.
