The outrageous rise in tomato prices has had a severe impact on people's finances, leading to a distressing argument between a husband and wife in the Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh.
Sanjeev Burman, who operates a tiffin service, recounts a recent incident where he used two tomatoes while preparing a meal without consulting his wife, resulting in a significant dispute between the couple.
According to news reports, Burman has claimed that his wife was displeased with him for not seeking her opinion on the matter. Following the argument, she made the decision to leave their home along with their daughter, as stated by Burman.
Despite his attempts to locate them, he was unable to do so and subsequently sought assistance from the local police station.
Confirming Sanjeev's account, a senior police officer verified that he had lodged a formal complaint. Sanjeev explained that the argument stemmed from his inclusion of two tomatoes in the vegetable dish he was cooking.
Furthermore, he mentioned that he had not communicated with his wife for three days and was unaware of her whereabouts.
The police officials had assured Sanjeev that they would contact his wife and she would come back soon.
