The Fertilizer Association of India (FAI) is conducting its Annual Seminar 2021 on the subject 'Challenges in Fertilizer and Agriculture' at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, India, from December 1 i.e. today to December 3rd.

There will be presentations on economic policies, climate-resilient agriculture, technology progress in fertilizer production, and fertilizer product marketing efficiency.

The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) is a non-profit, non-trading association that primarily represents fertilizer manufacturers, distributors, importers, equipment creators, research institutes, and input suppliers.

Satish Chander, Director General, FAI while inaugurating today's event said, "This is a huge event; there are about 600 delegates watching this seminar virtually. FAI is a 66 years old organization that is very important organization in the fertilizers industry. It was started in Hyderabad in the year 1955 and then moved to Delhi in 1958".

He added "Some visionary people saw the importance of the fertilizer sector, the testimony to that is when FAI was formed, total consumption of chemical fertilizers was not even 2 lakhs and last year we consumed 67 million tonnes. This sums up the importance of the Fertilizer industry in India".

He said that "The fertilizer Industry emerged stronger than ever after Covid 19. We manufactured, exported, and sold the maximum amount of fertilizer during the pandemic. Last year, the total sale was 9% higher than the previous year. The government provided record subsidy to the farmers of the country which accounted for Rs 1.32 lakh crore. This is huge in itself."

The Association was founded in 1955 with the goal of bringing together all parties involved in the manufacturing, marketing, and usage of fertilizers in order to:

  • Assist the industry in increasing operational efficiency.

  • Find answers to the difficulties that the fertilizer business and agriculture are experiencing.

  • Encourage the application of fertilizer in a balanced and effective manner.

  • Encourage the consumption of more and higher-quality plant foods.

  • Encourage the examination and debate of all issues that contribute to good farming practices.

The Association's primary goal is to provide food security via the balanced and effective utilization of plant nutrients.
