The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called for a countrywide 'rail roko' movement on Monday, seeking the dismissal and arrest of Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, in which his son Ashish Mishra Teni is an accused.
The SKM asks that this action be carried out peacefully, with no destruction or damage to railway property.
According to the SKM, all train traffic will be halted for six hours on Monday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., during the 'rail roko' protest. Four of the eight individuals killed in the October 3rd violence were farmers who were reportedly hit by a vehicle carrying BJP activists. Angry farmers are then accused of lynching some of the passengers in the vehicles. Two BJP workers and their driver were also killed. On October 9, Ashish Mishra was arrested in charge of the case.
Police will take action against everyone who will join in the farmers' organization's 'Rail Roko Andolan.' 144 CrPC is also in effect in the district, and anyone who attempts to disturb normalcy will face NSA.
Rakesh Tikait commented on today's rail roko agitation, saying, "This protest is calling for Ajay Mishra Teni's arrest in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. This movement will be pan-Indian, but we will call it off if Mishra is apprehended by the police. Teni must resign and be arrested."
"We are protesting because the Lakhimpur Kheri tragedy is linked to us. The arrest and deportation of Ajay Mishra is an additional demand to our demand for the repeal of three farm laws "Tikait said.
Northern Railway has not been affected as a result of the rail roko protest, and police and security forces have been deployed.
Due to rainfall in some areas, farmers have not yet gathered near the railway tracks.
