Amid the farmer’s protest, the Governor of West Bengal asks West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as why the benefits of PM-KISAN were not provided to state farmers.
On Friday, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar took a dig at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for failing to give state farmers the benefit of PM-KISAN, which allegedly resulted in the loss of a total of ten thousand crore for Bengali farmers.
He also reported that in the province, 70 lac farmers had each lost around ₹14,000. He reminded the Chief Minister that loyalty to this country's Constitution is inescapable and that good governance or prudent economics are also not. Furthermore, the WB Governor declared that he will address the Legislative Assembly and explore why Bengal alone does not provide its farmers with PM-KISAN benefits.
Dilip Ghosh, president of West Bengal BJP, has also made a harsh attack on CM Banerjee for her being against the farm laws. He said that, ‘Mamata Banerjee had previously submitted a notice against demonetization and CAA, but both were enforced, so now there is nothing Mamata can do. She certainly has no knowledge yet calls for the resignation of PM, it’s absurd.’
Resolution against Farm Laws passed by the Bengal Assembly
On Thursday, a resolution against farm laws was passed by the West Bengal assembly. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, speaking about this resolution of the Bengal Assembly, said that the Centre's three controversial farm laws are against farmers. West Bengal BJP MLAs protested the decision when staging a walkout by shouting 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans. This came after the Congress of Trinamool said that a censure motion would be moved in the West Bengal assembly.
Mamata Banerjee said that the slogans of Jai Shri Ram on the official program marking the anniversary of the birth of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose were an insult to both the freedom fighter and the chief minister. In the Legislative Body, a motion of censure is moved to express clear criticism of such practices or actions. Congress and CPI(M) have said, however, that they would not accept the motion for censure. Mamata Banerjee declined to talk at a function to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose after she was infuriated at the Victoria Memorial by 'Jai Shri Ram' chants being aimed her way.
In boycotting the President's speech at the ongoing farmers' protest on Friday, Trinamool Congress (TMC) joined other opposition groups. In an assembly session, Bengal CM said that BJP should be ashamed of themselves and they should answer the questions of farmers first and then discuss WB.
