The government of Uttar Pradesh has already decided to purchase the agricultural land of 39 villages directly from the land owners in order to build the proposed International airport at Jewar in Greater Noida. However the acquisition doesn't seem an easy task for the government, as the land owners are demanding the fair rate of Rs. 5000/- per square meter instead of Rs. 1895/- per square meter which was offered earlier by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the nodal agency for the airport project, and the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration to acquire the land on behalf of UP government.
The development work is likely to start by October this year.. Regarding this concern the Union civil aviation ministry has directed YEIDA to complete the formalities of land acquisition at the earliest. Land from 39 villages will be acquired as a total of 5000 hectare land is required for the airport project.
Farmers have no problem with the airport project which will bring a change in the form of development and prosperity in their region, but the price government is promising is not matching up with the current increased value of the land. Many of the land owners are getting preferential offers from various businessman and property agents, whereas if the officials accept their demand of 5000/- per sqm then it will be totally justified.
As it is required to complete the acquisition process at the earliest, there is a fair chance that the farmers will get their demands fulfilled.
