Farmers demonstrated against the Central Government on Sunday, a day after BJP Abohar MLA Arun Narang was manhandled by protesting farmers in Malout. Farmers burned copies of the three controversial farm laws. Over 100 farmers protested at Guru Nanak Mission Chowk under the banner of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Rajewal), eschewing social distance. Farmers squatted in the chowk's middle after conducting a march. Farmers attempted to march towards the district BJP officials, who had already called a rally to condemn the attack on their MLA. To deter farmers from continuing, a large police force and anti-riot unit were deployed to the scene. For a while, traffic on the road was disrupted for 1 hour or so.
Theft of Rupees 4 lakh worth of products
In Phagwara, looting and extortion have been rampant. Thieves attacked a flat at GI Flats on Dosanjh Kala Road here on Sunday and fled with goods worth Rs4 lakh, according to the latest incident. Ajay Jain, the owner of Block 401, Block B, GI flats, said he lives there. He had been in Chandigarh for 15 days with his family, and when he returned home this evening, he noticed his flat's locks had been cut. All was strewn about, and all of value had vanished. He said the crooks took jewels and other valuables with them as they fled. A total of Rs4 lakh was lost by him. Surprisingly, when the incident occurred, the watchman and security personnel were on board.
World music e-contest won by a student
In an international music e-competition held at Guru Angad Dev College, Khadur Sahib, Taran Taran, Arvinder Singh of Lyallpur Khalsa College came first in the classical non-percussion (Sarangi) event. The e-competition was devoted to Guru Teg Bahadur's 400th Parkash Purb, said college principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra. Land tax of Rs. 30 lakh was obtained
