Farmer leaders have written a letter to the Secretary of Agriculture, mentioning that their main agenda for the meeting is the cancellation of three new farm laws for them and legal guarantee of purchase on MSP, just before the interaction between the Farmers’ Organization and the Government of India in Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on Wednesday.

And on the other hand, the Government has already clarified that the three new farm laws will not be withdrawn, and the Government is ready to give written assurance only on the MSP.

Farmers’ Organizations, which have been protesting for the last five weeks, accepted the proposal of the meeting by the Agriculture Secretary, and written a letter on Tuesday sand said that they will attend the meeting to keep their four demands.

On Tuesday, 29th December, Agriculture Minister said, “No Power on our Prime Minister will be able to use its pressure and influence.” And it is obvious that, before today’s meeting, both Farmers’ Organization and Central Government has tightened their stand.

The Government of India has already rejected the demand to withdraw all three new laws, and is only ready to give the written assurance on the MSP.

So, today is the situation, when the deadlock will be broken in the meeting, which is being held 22 days after the meeting of Home Minister Amit Shah on 8th December, the possibility of this is not visible at the moment.

For about the last three weeks, demonstration of farmers on the borders of Delhi has been going on, and at least 6 rounds of direct talks have been held between the Government and Farmers’ Organizations.

But, both sides are tightly holding their points.  Now the question is that, will there be any middle path? Or which side will show some leniency?
