Gaurav Mathur the current Managing Director of Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals Limited, New Delhi on December 2, 2021, during the FAI ‘s Annual seminar 2021 spoke about the Challenges and Way Forward for the Urea Industry in India.
During his speech, he gave the audience a very clear cut perspective of the Current Indian Urea Industry
And spoke vehemently on how in the past 15 years due to the low production of the indigenous Urea, a large amount of Urea had to be imported from other countries, he was also of the opinion that although inflation was on the rise Govt subsidies on Urea were actually lagging behind.
Mr Mathur also spoke on how due to the subsidised rate of Urea the balance of NPK in the soils was skewed due to the imbalance in the application of Urea. His suggestions on Initiating and refining direct benefit transfer 2.0 were also mirrored by his fellow panellist Mr S. Sankarasubramanian in his presentation on Challenges and Remedies for P&K Fertilizer Industry, he also demanded on simplification of urea policy and a revision of the fixed cost of Urea.
The Fertlizer Association of India (FAI) is conducting its Annual Seminar 2021 from December 1-3 at the Indian Habitat Centre on the theme “Challenges in Fertilizer and Agriculture” and today is the 2nd day of the Seminar which started at 11:00am.
There will be presentations on economic policies, climate-resilient agriculture, technology progress in fertilizer production, and fertilizer product marketing efficiency.

The day was divided into 2 sessions and the topics discussed in the sessions were: Challenges of Indian Fertilizer Sector and Meeting Challenges in Agriculture.
His enlightening Lecture on the topic was truly an eye-opening one and one that can surely help the Agriculture industry as whole.
