A big announcement has been made by the Railway Ministry by the start of this festive season. Indian Railway employees who are working in the railway workshop have seen their overtime allowance almost doubled by Ministry.
It is known as an incentive bonus which a railway employee gets after working overtime. It is to be noted that, this comes ahead of the Dussehra festival and will be welcomed.
Not to forget the success of Vande Bharat (Train 18), one of the signature trains of Indian Railways in terms of speed and comfort. This was a big achievement and the workers made it possible in good time without any glitches. Train 18 is manufactured in ICF, where the allowance of employees has been increased.
Recommendation of 7th Pay Commission
These railway employees were not getting increased incentive bonus under 7th Pay Commission. Hence, it has been extended after the approval of the Railway Board on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission.
As per the 7th Pay Commission recommendation, if an unskilled worker is working overtime, the incentive bonus given to him/her should be increased from Rs 6,760 to Rs 12,168.
How will the railway bonus benefit employees?
The big decision of Indian Railways will benefit the workers of Chittaranjan Locomotives Works (CLW). A high-speed locomotive (rail engine) has been built at Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), West Bengal. It can run at a maximum speed of 180 kmph.
Biometric attendance
This incentive bonus is given to railway employees on an hourly basis. Biometric machines will be installed in all railway workshops and production units to register employee's presence.
