A Pension Payment Order (PPO), a 12-digit number granted to each pensioner covered by the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS), will be assigned to an Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) subscriber when he or she retires.
On the pensioner's portal of the EPFO, retirees can check the status of their pension. Each pensioner or family pensioner has a 12-digit PPO number that serves as a unique reference in all communications. The website allows retirees to verify the status of their pension and file complaints.

How is the 12-digit PPO number allotted?
The following system is used for the allocation of 12-digit PPO numbers, according to the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO). In every PPO, the first five digits represent the code number of the PPO Issuing Authority, followed by the next two digits that represent the year of issue, and then the following four digits that represent the PPO's sequential number, with the final digit serving as a computer check digit.
