Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the introduction of over 1 lakh internship opportunities through the All India Council For Technical Education internship portal. He expressed his pleasure at the start of the internships, reiterating that NEP 2020 places a strong emphasis on bridging the gap between industry and academic institutions.
"As we start preparing the roadmap for India @ 2047, the year India will accomplish 100 years of independence, we should work together and aim to provide 100 million internships in the next 2-3 years for enhancing employability of young generation and establishing a more productive economy," said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan described the provision of 1 lakh internship opportunities as a "welcome beginning," adding that the industry's goal is to provide internship chances to all.
He went on to say, "To prepare youngsters for the future, NEP 2020 emphasises collaboration between industry and academic institutions. Although 1 lakh+ internship opportunities are a wonderful start, our academic institutions and industry should strive to provide internship opportunities to all."
Dharmendra Pradhan also encouraged the sector to broaden its internship opportunities.
"I am pleased that the industry now recognises the importance of apprenticeship, skilling, and re-skilling," he wrote in a tweet.
"I also encourage the enterprises here and the industry to broaden internship possibilities, including in the humanities and new developing technologies." he went on to say.
