e-Shram Portal: Laborers, Workers Must Apply to Take Benefit of Rs 5 Lakh Along with Monthly Pension

The Ministry of Labor and Employment is continuously appealing the laborers working in the unorganized sector in India to register on the e-Shram Portal and number of applications on the portal has crossed 4.24 crores. That is, this portal of the government is running in its form.

The Ministry of Labor and Employment is continuously appealing the laborers working in the unorganized sector in India to register on the e-Shram Portal and the number of applications on the portal has also crossed 4.24 crores. That is, this portal of the government is running in its form. 

The Union Ministry of Labor and Employment will issue a 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) and e-Shram Card for about 38 Crore laborers in the unorganized sector, which will be valid across the country. E-shram cards will give a new identity to crores of unorganized workers of the country. This labor card will help them get the benefit of social security schemes of the government in the future. All the construction workers, migrant laborers, street vendors can get themselves registered on this portal. 

Benefits of e Shram Card: 

After this announcement of the government, now the workers of the unorganized sector will be able to get the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana  (PMSYM), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan            Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY). 

Ajay Tiwari, Director General of Labor Welfare and Joint Secretary in the ministry, said that social security (pension, insurance) schemes including PMSYM, PMJJBY, PMSBY and PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat) will be added to the database. Informal sector workers will be able to register to take advantage of these schemes through this database platform. 

From today itself, a national toll-free number 14434 will also be started to help the workers for registration. 

Free health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh 

Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana), each family is given a free health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh annually. 

Rs 3000 pension is available in PMSYM 

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Man Dhan Yojana is a scheme for the workers of the unorganized sector. Under this, street vendors, rickshaw pullers, construction workers and people associated with the unorganized sector engaged in many other similar works will be helped to secure their old age with a pension. Under this scheme, a pension of Rs 3000 per month i.e. Rs 36000 per year will be available.
