On August 26, the Centre Government introduced e-Shram portal to crores of workers of the country working in the unorganized sectors. The government launched this portal keeping in mind the interest of the workers. According to the Ministry of Labor, more than one crore workers have registered themselves on the e-shram portal so far.
What is e-Shram Portal?
It is to be known that e-shram portal is a database of laborers. With the help of this, the government will deliver social security schemes to their doorsteps. The workers will be provided a Universal Account Number and they can avail benefits through it.
Who can Register?
The government aims to take its social security schemes to the masses. For this, a national database of 38 crore workers of the unorganized sector i.e. e-shram portal has been launched. In this database, workers, migrant laborers, street vendors, domestic workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers, agricultural laborers and other workers in the unorganized sector can register
Accident Insurance Coverage
All registered unorganized workers will be provided accident insurance coverage for one year through Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). For registration, you have to give complete details like your name, profession, address, educational qualification, skill, and family details etc. Migrant laborers can register at their nearest Common Service Center (CSC). A registration card will be generated for the unique account number of the worker, which has been named as E Shram Card. The database of unorganized and migrant workers will be linked with Aadhaar.
Process to Register on the Portal

To register on the e-SHRAM portal, log on to the official website.

Now click on the link 'Register on e-shram' on the home page.

Enter Aadhaar linked mobile number and captcha code.

Now click on send OTP.

After this, you will have to fill many more forms further.

You will be asked a number of information to complete the registration process. This includes residential details, educational qualification, nature of occupation and skill, bank account, etc.

Fill these out and follow the instructions.

Then you will get OTP and after filling OTP your card will appear on the screen, which also contains QR card.
