Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Government has rolled out a national database for the unorganized workers for the overall welfare of crores of unorganized workers of the country. The Centre has now developed an e-SHRAM portal, which will be seeded with their Aadhar card.
All the registered workers under the e-SHRAM portal will enroll under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) & the premium for the first year will be borne by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Government of India.
38 Cr Unorganized Workers to be Registered
More than 38 crore unorganized workers (UW) in the country will be registered under one portal. The registration under the e-SHRAM portal is completely free & the workers do not have to pay anything for his/her registration at Common Service Centers (CSCs) or Regional Office at the State Government.
There are no income criteria for registering on the e-SHRAM portal as an unorganized worker. However, he or she should not be an income tax payee.
They can directly register through the e-SHRAM portal. The bank details are being captured to ensure the hassle-free delivery of the benefits under the social security scheme or any benefits by the Central or State government directly to the worker’s accounts. There will be no deduction from the worker’s bank account after the registration.
Labor Shramik Card Registration Process

For registration, you have to log in through the official website of the e-SHRAM portal via:

Click on “Registration on the e-SHRAM” on the homepage.

Now, enter an Aadhar-linked mobile number & captcha code and click on send “OTP”.

Follow subsequent instructions to complete the registration process.

Note: If a worker does not have an Aadhar linked mobile number then he or she can visit the nearest CSC & register through the Biometric authentication.

The worker must have an Aadhar-linked mobile number, Aadhar number & bank account number to register for the e-SHRAM portal.
