National Agriculture Market (e-NAM), India’s largest digital platform for agricultural trade, has taken a significant step forward with the addition of nine new commodities. This expansion raises the total number of tradable items on the platform to 247, providing farmers with wider market access, fair pricing, and a transparent trading ecosystem.
Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare said the move comes in response to growing demand from farmers, traders, and other stakeholders for broader commodity coverage. By digitally connecting markets across the country, e-NAM helps farmers secure competitive prices while reducing dependence on middlemen.
Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI), responsible for setting tradable parameters for commodities on e-NAM, developed guidelines for the nine new items after extensive consultations with state agencies, traders, experts, and the Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC). These guidelines were approved by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The newly added commodities include Green Tea, Tea, Ashwagandha Dry Roots, Mustard Oil, Lavender Oil, Mentha Oil, Virgin Olive Oil, Lavender Dried Flower, and Broken Rice. Standardized parameters link prices directly to quality, helping farmers secure better value for their produce and reducing reliance on middlemen.
So far, DMI has framed tradable parameters for 238 commodities, and the addition of these nine items brings the total to 247. Farmers can now access broader markets, sell their produce at competitive rates, and benefit from assured quality standards. The platform’s digital tools ensure fair pricing, efficient trade, and protection of farmers’ interests.
The e-NAM platform, accessible at enam.gov.in, continues to play a key role in creating a transparent, farmer-friendly marketplace that strengthens the economic resilience of India’s agricultural community.
