The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) recently concluded a highly successful Special Campaign 2.0, aimed at improving efficiency, cleanliness, and the disposal of pending references. The campaign, which ran from October 2nd to 31st, 2022, covered 18 organizations under DPIIT across 95 campaign sites, with a particular focus on field and outstation establishments.
Building on the success of Special Campaign 2.0, DPIIT has continued its efforts to maintain high standards of operation and cleanliness. The activities initiated during the campaign have been carried forward for ongoing implementation from November 2022 to August 2023.
One of the key achievements of Special Campaign 2.0 was the establishment of a dedicated dashboard for monitoring the disposal of various types of references, including those from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Members of Parliament (MP), Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and Public Grievances, among others. During the campaign period, DPIIT successfully addressed 2,826 public grievances and appeals, 161 PMO references, 158 MP references, 18 inter-ministerial references, 66 state government references, and 11 parliamentary assurances that had been pending for more than three months.
In addition to reference disposal, DPIIT also undertook a comprehensive review of its record management system. A staggering 5.42 lakh physical files were meticulously reviewed, resulting in the removal of 1,63,997 obsolete files. The digital transformation was not left behind, with 48,267 e-files reviewed, and 4,300 e-files closed. Impressively, 1,45,031 files were digitized across all DPIIT offices, freeing up 22,087 square feet of valuable space and generating revenue of Rs. 1,09,500 through scrap disposal.
Special Campaign 2.0 has not only boosted operational efficiency but has also highlighted the significance of cleanliness and organization in the workplace. It emphasized the pivotal role of information and communication technology (ICT) in enhancing overall work efficiency. Furthermore, participating organizations have embraced several best practices to foster improvements in their work environments.
Looking ahead, DPIIT is committed to building on the accomplishments of Special Campaign 2.0 with the implementation of Special Campaign 3.0, scheduled to commence on October 2, 2023. DPIIT has already begun the process of identifying campaign sites across India and is dedicating substantial resources to this initiative. To ensure the campaign's success, DPIIT has deployed 49 officers to visit 75 campaign sites and provide progress reports.
With Special Campaign 3.0 on the horizon, DPIIT remains firmly committed to its mission of continual improvement and excellence in the promotion of industry and internal trade.
