Director of Agriculture, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, recently paid a visit to the Potato Seed Multiplication Farm in Ismarg, Gurez. During his visit, the Director thoroughly examined various sections of the farm and received detailed briefings from the responsible officers regarding the latest initiatives and interventions implemented at the facility.

Expressing his views on the occasion, the Director of Agriculture emphasized that the agro-climatic conditions in the region make it highly suitable for seed production. He acknowledged the potential of these favorable environmental conditions and emphasized the need to capitalize on them to lead the seed production sector.

The Director highlighted the critical role played by high-quality seeds in ensuring successful cropping seasons. He urged the officers in charge to embrace real-time technologies that can guarantee the production of healthy, virus-free potato seeds.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the departmental farms are committed to developing and multiplying high-yielding varieties of agricultural crops, including potatoes. These efforts involve the utilization of appropriate production and protection technologies, effective post-harvest management, and the production of superior-quality seeds.

As part of his visit, the Director of Agriculture also addressed a large gathering of farmers during the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan held in Dawar Gurez. He underscored the significance of various projects initiated under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme and called upon the farmers to collaborate closely with the department to ensure the successful implementation of these projects.

Subsequently, the Director of Agriculture inspected an under-construction semi-hi-tech polyhouse at Ismarg, Gurez. He instructed the relevant officers to adhere to the predetermined timeframe and complete the project accordingly. The Director's visit was accompanied by Joint Director of Agriculture Inputs, Mohammad Younis Chowdhury, and other officers from the department.

The visit to the Potato Seed Multiplication Farm and the subsequent interactions with farmers reflect the Director of Agriculture's commitment to promoting advanced agricultural practices and ensuring the availability of superior quality seeds for the farmers in the region.

These initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to the overall agricultural development and productivity of the area, thereby benefiting the farming community as a whole.
