Delhi-NCR is bracing for intense heatwave conditions in the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a steady rise in temperatures. As summer tightens its grip, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 40-42°C in some areas by April 7, while the minimum will hover around 20-22°C.

In the past 24 hours, Delhi has experienced a temperature increase of up to 3°C, with the maximum temperature rising 5°C above normal levels. Heatwave conditions are starting to develop in isolated areas of the city, making outdoor activities more challenging. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that these conditions will continue from April 4 to April 9, advising residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

Currently, the region is characterized by mainly clear skies and dry weather, with surface winds blowing from the northwest and southeast at moderate speeds of 10-20 km/h, occasionally gusting up to 30 km/h during the day. However, wind activity is expected to diminish at night, providing little relief from the oppressive heat.

For the next four days, Delhiites can expect rising temperatures with no respite from the heat:

  • April 4: Maximum temperature of 39-41°C; heatwave conditions likely in isolated areas.

  • April 5: Slight dip, with a range of 38-40°C; gusty winds in the afternoon.

  • April 6: Maximum temperature rising again to 39-41°C, with hot and dry conditions prevailing.

  • April 7: The hottest day of the week, with temperatures soaring to 40-42°C.

With extreme heat setting in, health experts advise staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours, and wearing light, breathable clothing. Authorities have also urged people, especially children and the elderly, to take necessary precautions.

As Delhi-NCR enters its first major heatwave spell of the season, residents must prepare for scorching days ahead. Stay tuned for further weather updates.
