Today, Delhi experiences a relatively mild climate with temperatures hovering around 25°C for the high and 13°C for the low. The wind speed remains gentle at 5 km/h, while humidity stands at 80%, with chances of light to moderate rains on February 21 and 22, 2024.
According to IMD's projections, a series of atmospheric phenomena are set to unfold across the region. A Western Disturbance, characterized by a cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, coupled with a high moisture influx from the Arabian Sea over northwest India, will trigger significant weather changes.
What to Expect in the Next Five Days
Widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning is anticipated over the Western Himalayan Region on February 20 and 21, 2024. Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh. Hailstorm activity may occur in isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Isolated/scattered light to moderate rainfall/snowfall persists in the Western Himalayan Region on February 22 and 23, 2024. Additionally, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, northwest Madhya Pradesh, and other regions may experience isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
February 24 onwards, a fresh Western Disturbance is forecasted to affect the Western Himalayan Region. This will likely bring isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall/snowfall until February 26.
Impact on Other Regions
Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected from February 20 to February 23. Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall may occur in various states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Jharkhand might witness isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Hailstorm activity is also likely in certain areas.
Hot and humid weather is anticipated in Kerala and Rayalaseema on the 20 and 21.
Minimum temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable in the next 24 hours in Northwest and Central India before experiencing a slight decline of 2-3°C thereafter.
