Delhi Weather: Thunderstorm to Hit National Capital

IMD predicted a thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty winds at isolated places in the national capital. Strong surface winds, with speeds of 25 to 35 kmph are expected in Delhi and the temperature is expected to be recorded between 7 degrees and 22 degrees.

Delhi NCR experienced light showers of rainfall today morning with a heavy overcast sky. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) thunderstorm is predicted accompanied with hail and gusty winds at isolated places in the national capital. Though, fresh snowfall is expected to bring cold winds in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.  

However, officials also said that strong surface winds, with speeds of 25 to 35 kmph are expected in Delhi and the temperature is expected to be recorded between 7 degrees and 22 degrees. 

According to IMD reports, the weather conditions have arose due to a prevailing western disturbance over the entire northwest India. Due to it, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, northern parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience heavy rain. Besides Delhi, thunderstorms accompanied with hail is also likely at isolated places like western Himalayan region, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh. 

However, yesterday the maximum temperature was around 25.1 degrees Celsius whereas the minimum temperature was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius. Air quality however remained in the ‘very poor’ category for the second day in a row, with the air quality index (AQI) value being recorded at 352.
