Delhi Weather: Minimum Temperature Above Normal, Mercury Set to Touch 41°C This Week

Delhi continues to sizzle as temperatures rise above normal, with the IMD forecasting partly cloudy skies and strong surface winds in the coming days.

Delhi witnessed a slight rise in temperature over the past 24 hours, with the minimum settling between 22°C and 24°C , up to three degrees above normal for this time of the year, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The maximum temperature remained near normal, ranging between 36°C and 38°C across most parts of the capital.

Clear skies and light surface winds from the southeast at speeds of 12 to 14 km/h prevailed throughout the day. Similar conditions were recorded on Monday morning, with wind speeds remaining below 14 km/h.

The weather is expected to remain dry and warm over the next few days, with the IMD forecasting a gradual rise in both day and night temperatures. On Tuesday (April 15), the maximum is likely to touch 39°C, while skies will turn partly cloudy by evening. Winds will continue from the southeast, strengthening slightly after sunset.

On Wednesday, the city may see the temperature inch closer to 40°C, with a slight dip in wind speeds by afternoon. The IMD has also forecast shifting wind patterns through the day, southeast in the morning, turning northwest by afternoon and back to southeast by night.

Thursday is expected to be the hottest day of the week, with temperatures forecasted to range between 39°C and 41°C. In the afternoon, winds will increase, with gusts from the northwest reaching up to 18 km/h before calming down at night.

On Friday, April 18, Delhi may experience stronger surface winds, with speeds between 20 and 30 km/h and gusts reaching up to 40 km/h during the day. The skies will remain partly cloudy, with a maximum temperature expected to be around 41°C and a minimum temperature rising to 26°C.

Due to the increasing dry heat, the weather department has advised residents to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours.
