Delhi is witnessing a sudden change in weather since Thursday, with light rain, thunderstorms, and strong surface winds expected to continue across parts of the capital and NCR through the weekend. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a dip in maximum temperatures over the next two days, offering a brief respite from the early summer heat.

On Thursday, the city experienced a slight drop in temperatures, with daytime highs ranging between 39°C and 41°C, still up to 5 degrees above the average for this time of year. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature stayed close to normal, ranging from 21°C to 23°C.

According to the IMD, Friday is expected to be cloudy with a chance of very light rain or drizzle in some areas. Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of up to 50 km/h, may hit the region by evening. Daytime temperatures are predicted to drop slightly, ranging from 36°C to 38°C.

The weekend is likely to follow a similar pattern. On Saturday, the skies will remain partly cloudy, with occasional drizzles and increased wind gusts. Daytime temperatures may dip further, ranging between 35°C and 37°C, while nighttime temperatures will cool down to around 19°C to 21°C. Winds are expected to be light in the morning but may strengthen later in the day.

Starting Sunday, clear skies are anticipated to return, but the heat will gradually rise again. Maximum temperatures are forecasted to climb back to 39°C by Monday, April 14, with nighttime temperatures remaining warm at around 21°C to 23°C.

The IMD has advised residents to stay alert to sudden changes, especially those planning to step outdoors during peak afternoon hours. With thunderstorms and gusty winds likely to continue for the next couple of days, Delhiites can expect brief spells of relief from the heat, but the summer sun is far from over.
