Weather Update: Due to the persistence of cold northwesterly winds in lower levels over northwest India, cold day to severe cold day conditions is very likely over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar during next 2 days. Moreover, the Weather department of India has predicted cold day conditions over north India likely to reduce substantially from 29th December and abate from 31st December onwards. On the other hand, major parts of Northwest & Central India are very likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied by a hailstorm at isolated places during 31st December, 2019-01st January 2020 and over East India, on 02nd January 2020, says the weather department.

The National Capital along with the NCR region has been witnessing chilly wintry conditions with a shivering temperature 4.5 degree in the morning hours. As per reports, the minimum temperature was recorded as 4.2 degrees Celsius at 6.30 am on Friday, at the Safdarjung observatory. Moreover, temperatures have been lowering each day and the residents have been feeling the winter chill, says Skymet weather.
Moreover, severe cold day conditions have been continuing over the city since December 14. As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these temperatures are expected to remain the same in the coming two to three days wherein icy cold winds will continue to blow over the region. Thus, cold wave, as well as cold day conditions, will continue over Delhi and NCR until December 31.
As per yesterdays report, maximum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over North Interior Karnataka; at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over south Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala & Mahe, and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal while minimum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at most places over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada.
