Early Monday morning, residents across North India were jolted awake by significant seismic activity. At 5:36 a.m., a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck the Delhi-NCR region, with its epicenter located near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan, at a shallow depth of five kilometers. The tremors prompted many people in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad to rush out of their homes in fear. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Later, at 8:02 a.m., another 4.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Bihar's Siwan district. The National Center for Seismology confirmed this event, though details regarding its depth and specific epicenter are pending. As with the earlier quake, no casualties or structural damages have been reported in the region.

In response to the tremors, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to urge calm and caution. He emphasized the importance of following safety protocols and remaining vigilant for potential aftershocks. Delhi Police also advised residents to utilize the emergency helpline '112' if assistance was needed.

Delhi's susceptibility to seismic events stems from its proximity to the geologically active Himalayan region, approximately 250 kilometers away. The city is classified within Seismic Zone IV, indicating a high risk of earthquakes. Historically, Delhi has experienced both minor and significant tremors due to tectonic movements in the Himalayan belt and local fault lines.

Residents shared their experiences on social media, with many describing the tremors as unusually strong. Some reported being awakened by the shaking, while others noted items rattling in their homes. Despite the unsettling experience, the absence of reported damages or injuries has been a relief to many.

The National Center for Seismology continues to monitor the situation closely. While aftershocks are possible, their likelihood and potential impact remain uncertain. Authorities have advised the public to stay informed through official channels and to adhere to established safety measures during seismic events.
