The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially commenced the application process for the CSIR-UGC NET June 2025 examination. This national-level exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship or Assistant Professorship in Indian universities and colleges.

Candidates aspiring to appear for the CSIR NET June 2025 must complete their registration by the stipulated deadline through the official portal. The exam is conducted in five core science subjects and is considered one of the most prestigious eligibility tests in India for research and teaching careers in science.

Important Dates to Remember

The NTA has released an official schedule for the CSIR NET June 2025 examination. Aspirants are advised to keep track of the following dates:

  1. Online application form release date: June 3, 2025

  2. Last date to apply: June 23, 2025 (up to 11:59 PM)

  3. Last date to pay examination fee: June 24, 2025

  4. Correction window: June 25 to June 26, 2025

  5. Examination dates: July 26, 27, and 28, 2025

All candidates must ensure timely submission of the application form to avoid any last-minute technical issues or disqualification.

Exam Overview

The CSIR NET June 2025 will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. It will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions. The total duration of the exam will be 3 hours (180 minutes), and the paper will be available in both English and Hindi.

The exam covers five major disciplines in science:

  1. Chemical Sciences

  2. Life Sciences

  3. Mathematical Sciences

  4. Physical Sciences

  5. Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean, and Planetary Sciences

Candidates must choose one subject while filling out the application form based on their academic background and interest.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CSIR NET June 2025 exam, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

1. Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess a Master's degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) or be in the final year of their post-graduation in the relevant subject. Certain integrated courses and B.E./B.Tech. candidates are also eligible for specific subjects.

2. Age Limit: For JRF, the upper age limit is 28 years as on July 1, 2025. A relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD/women categories and up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates. There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for Lectureship/Assistant Professorship.

It is crucial for applicants to read the official information bulletin thoroughly before applying to ensure they meet all eligibility conditions.

Application Fee Details

The application fee is categorized based on the candidate’s reservation category:

  1. General category: Rs 1,150

  2. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS: Rs 600

  3. SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender: Rs 325

The fee can be paid only through online methods such as debit/credit cards, net banking, or UPI. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

How to Apply for CSIR NET June 2025

Candidates can follow the steps below to complete the application process:

  1. Visit the official website at csirnet.nta.ac.in.

  2. Click on the link for "Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2025 Registration."

  3. Register with a valid email ID and mobile number.

  4. Fill in the application form with personal details, academic qualifications, and subject preference.

  5. Upload scanned copies of the required documents (passport-sized photograph, signature, category certificate, degree mark sheets, etc.).

  6. Pay the application fee using the preferred online payment method.

  7. Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.

Candidates are advised to check all details carefully before final submission. Errors in the form can only be corrected during the official correction window.

Documents Required for Application

Before starting the application process, candidates should keep the following documents ready:

  1. Scanned photograph and signature

  2. Scanned copies of qualifying degree certificates or mark sheets

  3. Valid ID proof (Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, etc.)

  4. Category certificate (if applicable)

  5. PwD certificate (if applicable)

The specifications for uploading documents are mentioned in the information bulletin. Improperly formatted files may lead to rejection.

Selection Process

The final selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the CSIR NET examination. For Junior Research Fellowship, a merit list will be prepared based on subject-wise and category-wise scores. Those who qualify for JRF are also automatically eligible for Lectureship, provided they meet all other academic and age criteria.

Admit Card and Result

The admit card will be released a few days before the examination. Candidates must download it from the official website using their login credentials. The admit card will carry important details such as exam date, time, center address, and instructions.

After the successful completion of the examination, the results will be published on the official NTA portal. The scorecard will include the candidate’s subject-wise marks, percentile, and qualifying status.
