Punjab Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal announced a helpline number on April 8 and invited farmers to lodge complaints if they encounter any unfair practices during a special field inspection being undertaken to assess crop loss due to inclement weather.
Dhaliwal stated that he is personally supervising the ongoing 'girdawari' activity by visiting fields.
He stated that the state administration was completely committed to compensating farmers for crop losses caused by the bad weather. "My effort is to ensure that every farmer receives fair compensation," Dhaliwal said in a statement.
"However, if any farmer encounters inappropriate or unfair practcses in the 'girdawari' process, a concerned farmer can register his complaint on 9309388088 without hesitation."
He further stated that complaints can be sent via WhatsApp on this number. The minister went on to say that the complaint made on this number will be taken seriously and that appropriate action would be done.
He promised farmers that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's promise to compensate them for crop losses on Baisakhi would be kept. Unpredictable rainfall, hailstorms, and high-velocity winds have harmed wheat and other crops across Punjab.
