India is Asia's third-largest coffee producer and the coffee output has climbed up this year according to the state-run Coffee Board. There is a 12% increase in the production from last year which amounts to 350,400 metric tons in 2017-18. which includes 103,100 tons of Arabica and 247,300 tons of robusta variety.
The board said the rise in the estimate is mainly due to the officials surveying new areas under the crop in traditional growing regions.
The estimation was made after May 2017 and the account of crop losses will be taken into account at the time of post-monsoon estimation.
