Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today unveiled ‘Sweet Potato’ as the mascot for Krushi Odisha 2019, the annual farmers’ convention to be held from January 15 to 19 in Odisha, in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).
As Odisha stands number one in the country in terms of sweet potato production by producing 4 lakh tonnes of the edible, it has been chosen as the logo of Krushi’19. Mostly, CM Patnaik shall inaugurate the fair on Jan 15 at the Biju Pattnaik Ground, Baramuda.
Sweet potato has religious importance as it is used in Mahaprasad of Lord Jagannath in Puri, said Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Shashi Bhusan Behera.
The developments in Agriculture and allied sectors and modern technologies are showcased in the fair. The key objective is to showcase the power of the farming and Agriculture Industry in the state and highlight the investment opportunity in this sector.
There will be seven farmer- scientist interaction workshop during the four days. As many as 18 countries have been requested through their embassy to send delegations to participate in the state Agriculture Fair and to address the appropriate technical session at the conference.
