A cloudburst in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, last night resulted in significant flooding from Dhundi to Palchan. Heavy rains caused the Anjani Mahadev drain to overflow, sending large stones onto the Manali-Leh National Highway. This has led to the highway's closure, redirecting traffic to Lahaul Valley via Rohtang Pass.
In response to the flooding, the Kullu and Lahaul Spiti Police have issued an advisory. Fortunately, the weather in Manali has cleared up with the sun shining today, bringing some relief to the residents.
Reports indicate that the heavy rain began last night, leading the Anjani Mahadev drain, which flows into the Beas River, to swell dramatically. Additionally, four kilometers before the Atal Tunnel, a landslide in Dhundi caused debris to block the snow gallery. A section of the Manali-Leh highway was also washed away by the Beas River.
