Bank holiday plays an important role in common people's life as our all financial transactions totally depend on them. In August, we have one major public holiday excluding the Independence Day on August 15 while there are several religious festivals in the month.
But these bank holidays will totally depend on which state you live in. Except for the second, fourth Saturdays and all Sundays, banks will largely be working on all days.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guideline, banks remain shut on public holidays while certain holidays vary from state to state. For example, banks will remain closed in certain cities this month for holidays such as Raksha Bandhan, Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Patriot’s Day, Independence Day, Ganesh Chaturthi, Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva, Teej, Karma Puja and Thiruvonam/Indra Jatra.
