The government is going to create unique IDs of farmers who have availed agricultural schemes, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said in his speech in Parliament on Tuesday.
"The unique identity of the farmer will link the farmer profile with all the agricultural schemes, which have been availed by him," Tomar said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
Advantages of Creating Unique Ids for Farmers:
Highlighting the advantages of creating unique ID and its benefit for the farmers, the minister said it would help in provisioning the farmer's verification through e-Know Your Farmer (e-KYF) which would eliminate the need for re-submitting physical documents to different departments for availing benefits under different schemes.
It will also provide access to field-based and customized advisories as well as ease the process of accessing the damage to crops due to extreme weather conditions, he said.
As on December 9, the government has a database of 11.64 crore farmers registered under the PM-KISAN scheme, he added.
The 10th Installment of PM KISAN is about to be credited in the Jan Dhan accounts of the farmers. According to government sources, Prime Minister Modi will release the much-awaited 10th installment under PM Kisan Yojana today (15th December 2021) virtually.
However, The government has made it mandatory in this scheme. Farmers must complete eKYC in order to get the 10th Installment of PM KISAN. Farmers will get the next installment only if they complete the e-KYC. Without this, your installment may not be credited into the account.
Apart from this, there are various other agriculture schemes like PM Kisan Samaan Nidhi, PM KUSUM, KCC Facility etc, that the farmers can take advantage of. Creation of the unique Identification of farmers enrolled under all these schemes will help the govt keep a better record and database.
