The authorities are introducing multiple initiatives to improve the well-being of labourers. As part of this effort, the Ministry has designed an eShram portal to establish an extensive record of unorganized workers. The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) offer life and disability coverage to these workers.

The government of India has introduced several schemes for the welfare of farmers and labours such as PMJJBY, PMSBY, ABPMJAY, and many more. The Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY) is a health coverage program implemented by the Government of India. To provide financial security to unorganised sector workers in their old age, the government launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PM-SYM) Pension Scheme in 2019.

Additionally, various other schemes are available for unorganised workers, including the One Nation One Ration Card Scheme under the National Food Security Act, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushal Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Gareeb Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan, Mahatma Gandhi Bunkar Bima Yojana, Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana, PMSVANidhi, and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, based on their eligibility criteria.

In addition to the above-mentioned schemes, there are a few more available, such as the Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana (ABRY), Unemployment benefit under Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY), Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan (PMGKRA), National Social Assistance Program, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan (PM-GKRA), Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan-Dhan Yojana (PM KMDY), and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Recently, a data matching exercise was conducted, comparing the eShram data with other schemes' data. The findings revealed that out of more than 28.97 crore entries in the eShram data, 20.63 crores are already benefiting from the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme, 11.26 crore are registered in Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), 3.82 crores are registered in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme (PM-KISAN), and 4.63 crore beneficiaries are registered in the PM-Ujjwala Yojana.

In the last financial year, a total of more than 1.77 crore unorganised workers were registered in the eShram portal, representing 31 different occupations.
