The board has released updated evaluation criteria that place a focus on competency-based education in order to align the curriculum with National Education Policy 2020. As a result, there will be more competency-based questions or questions that evaluate the application of concepts in real-life situations on the question paper.
CBSE updates year-end and board exam evaluation criteria for classes 9-12 to focus on competency-based education and align with National Education Policy 2020. The percentage of competency-based questions in the exams has increased, with 50% of the exam paper's questions in the year-end exam or the final exams for Class 9 and Class 10th board exams being competency-based questions in the academic year 2023-2024.
The year-end or board examination evaluation and assessment criteria for classes nine through twelve were updated by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The percentage of competency-based questions in the class 9 final exam and the class 10 board exam in the academic session 2022–23 was 40%, while it was 30% in class 11 final exam and the class 12 board exam. This percentage has since grown for all classes.
For the academic year 2023–2024, the year-end and board examinations for classes 9 to 12 will alter in accordance with the most recent CBSE circular. According to the most recent exam pattern, 50% of the exam paper's questions in the year-end exam or the final exams for Class 9 and Class 10th board exams will be competency-based questions, which will include MCQs, case-based questions, source-based integrated questions, or any other sort.
A total of 20% of the questions in the class 10 board exam or the class 9 final exam will be objective-type questions, with the remaining 30% being short answer/long response questions. For the academic year 2023–2024, the papers for the class 11 year-end exam and the 12th board exam will consist of 40% competency-based questions, 20% objective questions, and 40% short answer/long answer type questions.
