
Bihar Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for thunderstorm, lightning, gusty winds, and hailstorm in various parts of Bihar over the next few days. The weather across the state is expected to remain unstable till April 12, with sudden spells of rain and storm likely to affect daily life.
According to IMD report, heavy rainfall has already been recorded in East Champaran, Supaul, and Sheohar, with wind speeds reaching up to 35 km/h. Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are expected to affect more districts in the coming days. A hailstorm warning has also been issued for Jharkhand on April 10, which may impact nearby regions in Bihar as well.
Residents of Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, and other central and northern districts are advised to stay alert for possible thunderbolt activity, lightning, and gusty winds. The weather department recommends that people remain indoors during stormy conditions and avoid open fields and trees.
The rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in Bihar are part of a larger weather system that is currently affecting several other states, including Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, and Uttarakhand. Along with Bihar, thunderstorms and strong winds are also likely in parts of East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura. Rainfall activity in these regions is expected to continue until April 12.
In northern India, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may witness thunderstorms and hailstorms with strong winds. IMD has also warned of thundersquall activity in Uttarakhand on April 10 and 11, with wind speeds expected to reach up to 60 kmph.
Southern states like Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala are also likely to see thunderstorms with gusty winds till April 11.
The IMD has urged people in Bihar and other affected areas to take precautions, stay away from water bodies during lightning, unplug electrical devices, and avoid sheltering under trees. Farmers have been advised to safeguard crops, as hail and strong winds may cause damage.
