Ever since the three farm laws had been passed by the two houses as well as the President, there has been a huge conflict between the government as well as the farmers of the entire nation. Through various peaceful protest as well as strikes and Bharat Bandh campaigns, the farmers have been protesting for the past 3 months now in order to make the government re-think about these laws.
Farmers on the Delhi border for the last seventeen days said they would return to the talks but demanded the repeal of the problematic three farm laws which they say had not been drawn up for them but for traders.
On Saturday farmers' groups thronged across the world at the toll gates. Farmers in Haryana, Telangana and other States thronged at toll gates letting vehicles to pass by without paying toll charges. All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) slammed the Centre effort to defame the movement of the farmers charging that it does not wish to solve the main issues raised by the farmers.
AIKSCC working group said the Centre first claimed that the entire movement of farmers was sponsored by political parties. Then it said it was a Punjab-specific movement that has pro-Khalistani forces, it said. Then they said Farmer Unions have walked away from talks, even though unions participated in all talks, never refused to come for talks and explained their position
Kanwalpreet Singh Pannu, the President of Punjab’s Kisan Sangarsh Committee and is one out of the 32 farmers protesting out of rage and agitation also stated that the Farm laws haven’t been made for the farmers instead it is made for the Traders and for their benefits. The protest is only going to stop once the government dissolves these laws.
He also added to the statement that the government might hold meetings and talks but it is only going to work out once they dissolve the three Farm laws and only then are they going to move on and talk about their other demands.
Dushyant Chautala, Haryana's deputy chief minister and party leader, met Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar on Saturday in his office. Similarly, a group of Haryana farmers who belong in the country to Farmer Producer Organizations have called on Tomar to tell him they want the three agricultural laws to continue, but with the changes suggested by the Government.
Pannu said thousands of farmers would march from Shajahanpur to Delhi in Rajasthan on Sunday morning, suggesting that the farmers unrest would escalate in the coming days. Furthermore, woman farmers in the country will come to the border with Singhu, where the largest number of farmers camp next week.
Pannu said that by 15th December 2020 the women farmers are also going to join the protest as the accommodation arrangements for them has already been done, adding that several farms are already in the midst of the Haryana government's breaching barricades from Punjab.
He said that on December 14, farmers throughout the country would surround collectors from the district and all fierced farmers' leaders in the capital would be on hunger strike that day, in unity at the Singhu frontier.
