Bhajan Lal Sharma, Son of Farmer, Takes Oath as New Chief Minister of Rajasthan

Bhajan Lal Sharma, who is the son of a farmer, took oath as the new chief minister of Rajasthan on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Bhajan Lal Sharma, who is the son of a farmer, took oath as the chief minister of Rajasthan on Friday, December 15, 2023 in Jaipur. The ceremony was administered by Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh, among other senior leaders of the party attended the session.

Previously, Bhajan Lal Sharma thanked BJP for choosing him as the chief minister of Rajasthan. "The BJP is the only party which gives opportunities to its workers. I would like to thank the party’s national and state leadership for giving a chance to the son of a farmer," he said.

Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma comes from an agricultural background. He has done a master's in political science. He won the Sanganer assembly seat with 145,162 votes against Indian National Congress', Pushpendra Bhardwaj, who received 97,081 votes.

Who is Bhajan Lal Sharma?

Bhajan Lal Sharma was born in a family of a farmer in Atari village in Bharatpur in the year 1967. 

He joined ABVP, a student wing of the BJP, in college while pursuing BA at the Maharani Shri Jaya government college in 1989.

He became the sarpanch of Atari village at the age of 27 in 1994.

Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa also took the oath as the deputy chief ministers and Vasudev Devnani has been choosen the speaker of the state assembly.
