Bhai Dooj Historical Relevance
Bhai Dooj holds a significant legend involving the god Yama and his sister Yamuna. As the story goes, Yama visited Yamuna on the day of Dwitiya in the Kartik month. Touched by love and devotion, Yamuna performed an aarti and applied a tilak on Yama's forehead. In return, Yama bestowed a boon upon her. According to the boon, whoever receives a tilak and aarti from their sister on this day would be protected from the hardships of the afterlife. This legend beautifully represents the strong bond between siblings and the exceptional importance of Bhai Dooj in safeguarding brothers from adversity.
