Best Agrolife Limited has introduced Mode of Action (MoA) coding across its agrochemical portfolio, as companies respond to growing concerns around pest resistance and sustainability in crop protection.
The move aligns BAL’s product labelling with global classification systems and comes at a time when the agriculture sector is seeing increased scrutiny over the repeated use of similar chemistries and their long-term effectiveness.
MoA coding helps identify how a product works at a biological level, enabling farmers and agri-advisors to make more informed decisions around product rotation—an approach seen as critical to maintaining efficacy of active ingredients.
“MoA coding provides a standardised reference that can support more structured usage decisions in the field,” said Vimal Kumar, Managing Director, BAL.
Industry participants are increasingly focusing on stewardship practices and classification-based usage frameworks, particularly in key crops where resistance issues have begun to impact productivity.
Alongside the labelling initiative, the company has expanded its portfolio across crop protection and biostimulants, signalling a broader push towards integrated solutions.
