Banks across India are open today, June 21, 2025, which also marks International Yoga. Since today is the third Saturday of the month, banking services will operate as usual, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calendar.
As per RBI rules, banks are shut on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, while they remain operational on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays. That means customers can visit their local branches today for all regular services.
Despite the numerous events taking place across the country in celebration of International Yoga Day, June 21 has not been designated as a public or banking holiday. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has not announced it as a non-working day, meaning that financial institutions will operate during their regular hours.
Upcoming Bank Holidays This Month
While banks are open today, customers should take note of a few upcoming closures in June due to regional observances and weekends:
-
Sunday, June 22 – Weekly closure across all states
-
Friday, June 27 – Banks closed in Bhubaneswar (for Ratha Yatra) and Imphal (for Kang or Rathajatra festival)
-
Monday, June 30 – Banks closed in Mizoram on account of Remna Ni
Bank holidays in India often vary from state to state, based on local festivals and cultural events. It’s advisable to check with your nearest branch or the RBI’s official website before visiting.
Online Banking Services Remain Unaffected
Even if your nearest branch is closed, online banking services continue to function seamlessly. Customers can carry out transactions via net banking, mobile apps, ATMs, and customer portals.
Services such as fund transfers (NEFT/RTGS), credit and debit card operations, chequebook and demand draft requests, and even account updates are accessible online, ensuring smooth financial transactions without visiting the bank physically.
So while banks are open today, those planning visits next week should stay updated on regional holiday schedules to avoid any inconvenience.
