In the month of May, there are many holidays and festivals due to which banks will remain shut for many days, and in the upcoming week, they will be closed for three days. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) instructions indicate unequivocally that all public, commercial, foreign, cooperative, and regional banks in India must remain closed on the stated dates. The Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks' Closing of Accounts are among the holidays designated by the RBI for lenders.
Bank holidays vary by state, although there are some days when banks are closed throughout India, which include Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), and Christmas Day (December 25).
