Ayush Ministry Celebrates World Homoeopathy Day with Theme 'Homoeoparivar- Sarvajan Swasthya, One Health, One Family'

On April 10, the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, under the Ministry of Ayush, hosted a one-day Scientific Convention to commemorate World Homoeopathy Day in New Delhi. The convention's theme was "Homoeoparivar - Sarvajan Swasthya, One Health, One Family."

The convention's goals were to promote evidence-based homoeopathic treatment for the health and welfare of the entire family, to train homoeopathic practitioners to deliver homoeopathy as the first line of treatment, and to promote homoeopathy as a treatment of choice in households. The event's Chief Guest, Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, stated, "We need a comprehensive and integrated approach to healthcare."

"I am certain that this event will herald the start of a new initiative towards integrated health that will be practiced in Indian families and will be consistent with the event's topic of homoeoparivar as well as medical diversity, which is the hallmark of healthcare in India. Homoeopathy is linked to nature, and it has been described as the second largest and fastest developing medical system." The Vice President elaborated on Homoeopathy's role in eradicating pandemic, saying, "Homoeopathy played a significant role in combating pandemic. India is known as the "World Pharmacy," and this is due to the country's devotion to quality assurance."

On this occasion, Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, highlighted the Ministry of Ayush's initiatives to promote the Ayush system of medicines, as well as the Ministry's encouragement of research and development in medical systems to make them more evidence-based and effective. The Ministry of Ayush has boosted its funding allocation to encourage excellent research in homoeopathy and has expressed his satisfaction with the good job done by CCRH in public health, epidemics, outpatients-based research, or hospital-based tertiary care research.

He urged the homoeopathic community to continue the good work of advancing homoeopathy, whether through clinical practice, education, or research. Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai, Minister of State for Ayush and WCD, stated, "We must recognise the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, as well as preventive care. CCRH's actions and successes have contributed to nation building through various public outreach programmes over the years."

Following the inaugural event, a session on 'Policy Aspects in the Development of Homoeopathy' was led by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai and presided over by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush. Ajit M. Sharan, Former Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Rahul Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, and Dr. Sangeeta Duggal, Advisor (Homoeopathy), Ministry of Ayush were among those who spoke. They discussed themes such as "Strategizing homoeopathic research, education, and practice," "Homoeopathy in Public Health," and "Pharmacovigilance."

An agreement was signed between CCRH and the Government of Kerala's Department of Homoeopathy to undertake a clinical trial on the immunological responses of Arsenicum album in COVID-19. CCRH signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 70 State/National Homoeopathic Medical Colleges as part of a significant outreach to the homoeopathic education sector and to provide motivation to combine education with research. Following that, 134 CCRH Short Term Studentships in Homoeopathy (STSH) and 07 MD scholarship winners were honoured.

The Vice President of India launched nine CCRH publications during the event. There were also two films and one web portal, the CCRH e-library Consortium. The Scientific Convention featured sessions on Policy Aspects of Homoeopathic Development, Strategic Framework for Homoeopathic Advancement, Research Evidences in Homoeopathy, and Expertise and Experience in Homoeopathic Practice.
