NABL M(EL)T Accreditation has been granted to the Department of Biochemistry and Pathology of the National Ayurveda Research Institute for Panchakarma (NARIP), Cheruthuruthy, Thrissur, Kerala, for its clinical laboratory services. NARIP is a premier research institute affiliated with the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
This is the first CCRAS Institute to receive NABL accreditation for clinical laboratory services. On June 7, 2022, Professor Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, inaugurated the NABL accredited lab during a ceremony attended by senior Council officials.
Dr. D. Sudhakar, Director of NARIP, presided over the event. The NARIP officials were all present at the inauguration ceremony.
The Director-General informed the audience that laboratory accreditation is a procedure by which an authoritative body provides formal recognition of technical competence for specific tests/measurements based on third-party assessment and compliance with international standards.
National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories provides the certification (A Constituent Board of Quality Council of India). Professor Acharya acknowledged the NARIP team's efforts, saying, "I congratulate all the officers and staff of this institute for their dedication and consistent efforts to achieve NABL accreditation." I hope the team continues to do excellent work."
On April 14, 2022, NARIP- Department of Biochemistry and Pathology received the certificate of 'NABL Medical (Entry Level) Testing Labs.' This laboratory accreditation ensures that citizens, particularly those living in villages and small towns, receive high-quality healthcare services. As an Ayurveda research institute, the scientific data released by this accredited lab provides scientific communities with trust and confidence in its accuracy and precision.
According to officials, the accreditation is significant because approximately 80,000 people use NARIP's OPD/IPD services each year. Accredited labs also benefit members of scientific communities, such as those working on various research projects, outreach medical camps, and so on.
According to Dr. N. Thamizh Selvam, Assistant Director -Biochemistry, the laboratory is outfitted with advanced instruments such as a fully automated Biochemistry Analyzer, a fully automated Haematology Analyzer, and ELISA Systems with periodic calibration.
