Ayurveda Day 2025: India is celebrating the 10th Ayurveda Day today, September 23, 2025, with the theme “Ayurveda for People & Planet.” For the first time, the date has been fixed through a government Gazette notification, giving the celebration a permanent place in the national calendar.
The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa is hosting the central event this year. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav is inaugurating the celebrations, with Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik also in attendance.
This year’s theme highlights Ayurveda’s role beyond healthcare by linking human wellbeing with environmental sustainability. Government highlight that practices such as mindful diets, herbal remedies, and seasonal routines can improve lifestyle health while supporting ecological balance.
The National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2025 are being presented to distinguished contributors in the field. Several new facilities at AIIA Goa are also being inaugurated, including an Integrative Oncology Unit, Blood Bank, Central Sterile Supply Department, and a Hospital Linen Processing Care Unit. A special Ran-Bhaji Utsav, showcasing local forest vegetables, is also part of the programme.
Ministry of Ayush is marking the occasion with several new initiatives. These include the launch of the “Desh ka Swasthya Parikshan” campaign for community health status assessment, the “DRAVYA” digital portal for Ayush substances, and a website dedicated to achievers in Ayurveda. Publications such as “Ayurveda for Sports Medicine,” “Ayurveda Insight for Restful Sleep,” and “25 Years Journey of NMPB” are also being released.
A series of MoUs are being signed, including international academic exchanges in traditional medicine, collaborations in integrative oncology, and research partnerships with leading institutions. Ministry of Ayush said the celebration is aimed at strengthening Ayurveda’s integration with modern healthcare and showcasing its global relevance.
