On the 10th of November 2023, farmers will assume a pivotal role in the celebration of 'Ayurveda Day.' This year's event places special emphasis on 'Ayurveda for Farmers,' highlighting the potential for agricultural self-reliance and empowerment through the cultivation of Ayurvedic herbs and plants.
The event aims to raise awareness among farmers about the economic significance of medicinal plants and equip them with specialized techniques for their cultivation, courtesy of the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB).
Under the banner of 'Ayurveda for One Health,' the 'Ayurveda Day' campaign will provide Indian farmers with in-depth insights into the theme of 'Ayurveda for Farmers.' The main event will be held at Panchkula, Chandigarh, Haryana, offering farmers from across the country a valuable opportunity to learn about medicinal plant cultivation.
Farmers are being sensitized through a series of meetings, interactions, events, and various communication channels as part of the 'Ayurveda for One Health' campaign. To facilitate information dissemination and participation, the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) has established a micro website, www.ayurvedaday.org.in. This website serves as a comprehensive resource for 'Ayurveda Day,' allowing visitors from around the world to access information and engage in various activities associated with the 'Ayurveda for One Health' campaign.
The Ministry of AYUSH plays a central role in ensuring the success of 'Ayurveda Day.' In addition to targeting students and youth, the ministry is actively working to connect farmers nationwide with the campaign.
This outreach is accomplished through group meetings, one-on-one interactions, lectures, and workshops. Seven Regional cum Facilitation Centres (RCFCs) and 37 State Medicinal Plant Boards (SMPBs) situated throughout the country are collaborating to engage farmers in the 'Ayurveda Day' initiative.
Teams affiliated with these centers are going door-to-door, distributing medicinal plants to farmers, and encouraging their active participation. Various institutions under the Ministry of AYUSH and teams from other ministries are working tirelessly to transform 'Ayurveda Day' into a global event.
Through education, cultivation techniques, and nationwide engagement, this celebration aims to forge a path towards sustainable and health-oriented agriculture in India.
