The Indian Railways is going to implement its new timetable from today i.e. from July 1, 2019. It is to be noted that, the Northern Railway (NR) has re-organised the timings of around 267 trains, as it has said on Sunday. It further added that, the new timetable would come into effect from Monday.
Interestingly, the zone has introduced two new Tejas Express trains on the New Delhi-Chandigarh- New Delhi and the New Delhi- Lucknow- New Delhi routes.
Adding to it, it has extended the journey of four trains which are, the Dehradun-New Delhi Nanda Devi Express up to Kota Junction, the Aligarh-Moradabad passenger up to Gajraula, the Ambala-Amb Andaura DEMU up to Daulatpur Chowk and the New Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi Express up to Lohian Khas.
NR has also increased the frequency of the Allahabad-New Delhi-Allahabad Humsafar Express from tri-weekly to four days a week and has decreased the frequency of the New Delhi-Ludhiana-New Delhi Shatabdi Express from five days to two days a week.
There are changes in the departure timings of 148 trains by the zones. However, the departure timings of 93 trains have been preponed, and those of 55 trains have been postponed. The arrival timings of 118 trains have been changed. While for 57 trains, the timings have been pre-poned, and those of 61 trains have been postponed.
Earlier, the railways had planned to bring down by five hours the travel time between the busy Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai routes with an investment of about Rs 14,000 crore in infrastructure over the next four years.
It is one of the 11 proposals prepared by the railways in its 100-day plan, with instructions to initiate immediate action to implement them by August 31. These two routes account for 30 per cent of passenger and 20 per cent of freight traffic.
