During the financial year 2022-23, the Kalaignarin All Village Integrated Agricultural Development Project would help about 1,000 farmers in the Coimbatore district.
The event saw the delivery of agriculture inputs for the conversion of fallow lands into cultivable farmlands at Jinjampatty panchayat in Kuttur village in Krishnagiri. Through the coordinated participation of numerous ministries and organizations associated directly and indirectly with farming and farm output, the initiative aims to enable communities to flourish to their full potential with the correct sort of help and support.
With two cultivation cycles, the project aims to increase cultivable areas while also increasing their production. The project's overall purpose is to push the state to the top of the country in millets, coconuts, cotton, sunflower, and peanut production. The occasion was presided over by Dharmapuri Collector S. Dhivyadarshini.
The programme, which was inaugurated across the state by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Chennai on Monday, would be implemented in the Coimbatore district, with inputs and aid being distributed starting on Monday.
The District Administration Will Distribute Agri-Equipment to Farmers
The district administration has identified the recipients, according to an Agriculture Department official. Coconut saplings worth Rs. 10.25 lakh will be distributed to 6,837 farm families. The saplings are provided with a 100% subsidy. 370 farmers would also receive hand sprayers, shower sprayers, or battery-operated sprayers with a 50 percent subsidy, for a total cost of 6.93 lakh. Up to 555 additional farmers would receive pulse bund seeds at a 75 percent subsidy, with the government spending a total of 2.08 lakh in the area. The Agriculture Department will execute these three.
G.S. Sameeran, the Coimbatore district collector, and P.R. Natarajan, the Coimbatore MP, both attended an event in Kondayampalayam village, Sarkar Samakulam division.
Five farmers received coconut seedlings, five farmers received battery-operated sprayers, five farmers received hand sprayers, agri graduates received aid in setting up agri clinics, and five farmers received pulse seeds on Monday. During the programme, the Horticulture Department distributed saplings, seeds, agri tools, and aid amounts to farmers.
