Amul brand acknowledged signature doodle tribute to Saroj Khan's works and said she was the "mother of dance/choreography in India." The post has a caricature of Saroj Khan teaching a few dance moves. "From the A, B, C to the Ek, Do, Teen of dance," Amul captioned its post.
Amul shared its latest creative featuring Saroj teaching dance moves to the Amul girl, both of whom had a dupatta tied around their waist. The creative also features a few crew members watching them happily in the background.
Ek Do Teen' is actress Madhuri Dixit's iconic song from the film 'Tezaab'. It was choreographed by Saroj Khan.
Madhuri Dixit had also shared a heartfelt tribute for Saroj ji, whom she collaborated with on many iconic dance numbers and considers a mentor. Taking to her official Twitter handle, she wrote: “I'm devastated by the loss of my friend and guru, Saroj Khan. Will always be grateful for her work in helping me reach my full potential in dance. The world has lost an amazingly talented person. I will miss you. My sincere condolences to the family.#RIPSarojji.”
Choreographer Saroj Khan passed away on June 03 after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 71 years old and had complained of breathing problem last month, following which she was admitted to Mumbai’s Guru Nanak Hospital.
Saroj Khan won the National Award thrice in her lifetime. In 2003, she received the honour for the song 'Dola Re Dola' in 'Devdas'. In 2006, she was a recipient of the award for all the songs she choreographed in the Tamil film, 'Sringaram'. In 2008, she won the National Award for the song 'YehIshqHaaye' in 'Jab We Met'.Her notable work includes Sridevi’s iconic number ‘Main naagintusapera’ (Nagina), Mr India’s song ‘HawaaHawaai’, Madhuri Dixit’s ‘Ek Do Teen’ (Tezaab), DhakDhak (Beta) among others.
