Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated the ceremony of the IFFCO Nano DAP (Liquid) Plant in Gandhidham, Gujarat. This event took place on August 12, with the presence of various dignitaries including IFFCO Chairman, Dileep Sanghani.
Amit Shah underlined the visionary goal of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to uplift 15 crore farmers across the nation through the concept of ‘Sahkar se Samridhi’ (Prosperity through Cooperation), which led to the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation. He emphasized the plant's potential to exceed the production capacity of IFFCO's existing plant, which produces 3 million tonnes of DAP. The Union Minister of Cooperation highlighted that liquid fertilizer has far-reaching benefits for the economy and agriculture. The application of Nano DAP (liquid) minimizes land pollution, facilitates natural farming, bolsters soil fertility, enhances agricultural yield, and supports land conservation.
Amit Shah pointed out that the unique characteristic of IFFCO DAP (liquid) is that it remains on the crop's surface, thereby preserving the land. This innovation not only ensures the crop's access to DAP's advantages but also safeguards the environment. The introduction of DAP (Liquid) is anticipated to positively impact water pollution, agricultural output, affordability, government subsidies, and imports, thus contributing to India's self-sufficiency in urea and DAP production. Commending IFFCO's pioneering initiative, he acknowledged the introduction of Nano Fertilizer, which not only marks a global first but is also instrumental in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal of making India self-reliant in the fertilizer sector.
He emphasized that the availability of adequate and reasonably priced fertilizers directly correlates with farmers' prosperity. He affirmed that the nation requires a distinctive green revolution under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, one that surpasses mere production targets. The Union Minister projected that India's journey from importing wheat and rice to self-sufficiency has been achieved through relentless efforts, scientific planning, and visionary governance, positioning India as a food-secure nation.
The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation emphasized the importance of the impending green revolution focused on natural farming, which has the potential to enhance farmers' earnings, maximize yield, and promote organic exports. Amit Shah elaborated on the Ministry of Cooperation's formation of three multi-state cooperative societies to realize Prime Minister Modi's vision of "Sahkar Se Samridhi". The first society will enhance seed quality, yield, and preservation, while the second society will aid in purchasing and exporting agricultural products. The third society is designed to empower organic product marketing, with certifications ensuring premium prices for organic produce, directly benefiting farmers.
Stressing IFFCO's self-reliance, Amit Shah highlighted that the forthcoming plant in Gandhidham is entirely funded by IFFCO's equity, representing the equity of 4 crore farmers. This initiative is poised to produce 2 lakh nano urea bottles of 500 ml each, reducing urea imports and contributing to India's self-sufficiency. The anticipated outcomes include savings in fertilizer subsidies, foreign exchange, and a significant environmental benefit due to the zero liquid discharge-based plant construction.
The Union Minister of Cooperation also introduced a monumental storage scheme for food grains under PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies), which promises cost-saving benefits in transportation and storage of food grains. This initiative aligns with the Ministry's mission to establish 3 lakh new PACS over the next five years, fortifying agricultural finance and produce distribution.
